Good Evening and Happy April 1st, My Friends;

March was a productive month for our role-playing game. At the start of the month, we welcomed Eli to the community, who jumped right into the current mission with their civilian zoologist, Torin Landry, in a short three weeks. Since joining the community, Eli has written four (4) Mission Posts, and they have four (4) more joint posts in the works. Eli's well-written and thought-out posts introduced us to a unique character that we're all very excited to know more about! Eli's strong and consistent start has earned them the Newcomer Award. Very well done, Eli - We're glad you're here with us!

At the beginning of the year, our community was nominated to participate in Ongoing Worlds' Tournament of Simulations (ToS). Our game was evaluated by (3) judges using story, characters, and readability criteria. I'm proud to say that our game was recognized as a Great Star Trek Sim. Our game faced fierce competition within the whole of the online role-playing game community, which included simulations from several genres, including Star Trek, Firefly, Star Wars, Original Games, and more.

Each of you is the reason we were recognized for this achievement and why the Cardinal continues to define itself as a genuinely great game. I'm so proud of each of you and how you've made this community a fantastic place for collaborative story-telling within the Star Trek universe.

Thank you for all that you do and for being a truly remarkable group of writers!

Our activity level increased in March, which was a nice change of pace after a relatively calm February. We wrote 40 Mission Posts, averaging 5.71 Mission Posts per Player Character. When we compare these numbers to February's 10 Mission Posts, averaging 1.67 Mission Posts per Player Character, I think you'll agree that we saw quite a bit more player activity in March. This activity increase is fantastic and saw us advance the current mission into its third and final act. If we maintain this pace, I've no doubt we'll finish Tributaries well before the end of April.

Moving on, there were several updates to the website in March. Most of these updates were relatively minor, focused mostly on spelling and grammar. Here is a changelog of all website updates for those interested - Otherwise, skip ahead.

Website updates
> Removed the Pegasus Fleet logo from the 'Welcome' page
> Added 'Pegasus Fleet' to the sub-navigation menu on the 'Welcome Page'
> Updated the orange welcome title to a quote from Commander Benjamin Sisko
> Added the 'RPG-D' and 'Top RP Sites' redirects
> Replaced the page header graphic on the 'The Sim' page
> Added the 'USS Vigilant to the 'Task Force Assets' on 'The Sim' page
> Added a graphic for our Tournament of Simulations win to 'The Sim' page
> Updated 'Season 1' in 'Mission Groups' to 'Prologue'
> Added New Horizons, Tributaries, and Lower Decks to the 'Prologue' Mission Group
> Removed all 'Tour' images and entires except for the 'Bridge'
> Added the 'Task Force 56 Mission Post Challenge - March 2021' award to the 'Crew Awards' page

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with where the website is in presentation and content - I don't think we should anticipate any major website updates soon. That said, if you see anything that may need to be edited, let me know, and I'll take care of it straight away!

Alrighty, so, with all of that administrative stuff out of the way, let's move on to celebrating our achievements!

This month saw our players earn many crew awards. I want to announce the Game Manager's Merit.

I am beyond thrilled to award Amethyst, the player behind Doctor Madeliene De Saint Castine, with the Game Manager's Merit. Amethyst was the first to join our game as a player on Tuesday, August 18th, 2020. Since its inception, Amethyst has been an invaluable player of the community and was the catalyst of the game transitioning from idea to reality. Their steadfast support as a player, transitory Task Force Commanding Officer at the time the game became operational, Chief of Fleet Operations, and, most of all, as a friend, have been invaluable to our game's continued success and, to be frank, my sanity as GM and TFCO.

Since joining the Cardinal, Amethyst has written 25 Mission Posts, including, at the time of this award nomination - one (1) Solo Post and 24 Joint Posts.

Amethyst introduced Maddie to our community after the abrupt closure of the USS Komorkis and was hesitant in doing so after how much the character had developed on the Komorkis and the relationship she had established with the games' GM. That said, Amethyst rose to the challenge of exploring the unique character development opportunities presented by Maddie's presence on board the Cardinal, along with the other transfers, which included M'Riz, Trinity, Ewo, and Ischacarr.

Amethyst has continuously expressed interest in diving deeper to develop Maddie and has invited us with open arms on this journey. We've seen glimpses into Maddie's past through the well-written posts of "Dreaming;" "Spill Your Guts, Kind, Parts 1 and 2;" and "Four Bells And All Is Well, Parts 1 and 2."

I cannot thank Amethyst enough for all that she's done to support the Cardinal, both In-Character (IC) and Out-of-Character (OOC). We are fortunate to have her as a part of our community and grateful for all that she does to continue to thrive as players, writers, and community. Congratulations, Amethyst - Very well done!

The votes are in! They've been tabulated, and I'm excited to share that Mav and their character, Lieutenant (JG) Trinity Anderson, are the recipients of our Player's Choice Award for March 2021! This is Mav's third win for this specific award, having been the recipient in October and November 2020. Please join me in congratulating Mav on this achievement!

Congratulations to Mav, JSlat, and Gregory for winning the Friendship Ribbon for their Joint Post entitled "Roomies."

We'd also like to congratulate Amethyst and HowTypicallyHuman, who were also recipients of the Friendship Ribbon for their Joint Post entitled "Four Bells And All Is Well, Part 1" and "Four Bells And All Is Well, Part 2."

Awesome job, my friends!

Amethyst and JSlat were the recipients of the Funny Bones Award for their Joint Post entitled "The Smell." I especially liked T'Poe's humorous misunderstanding about Maddie's time assigned to a body farm. I snorted at T'Poe's comment, "Was there a particular oil you found particularly effective in your agricultural work?" Not only was it funny, but it was also smartly so. This comment offered a gentle reminder that the long-standing relationship between Humans and Vulcans doesn't negate some of the societal unknowns that still exist between the two species. Very well done!

Please join me in congratulating Mav for writing nine (9) Mission Posts in March 2021 - This means Mav is our Post Master of the month! Great job, Mav!

I'm thrilled to share that JakeyB has nailed their third win of the Treknobabble Citation for their eloquent use of Trek-Speak in the Mission Post, "Probably Leakage." This was a very well-written solo post from an Engineer's perspective, and I appreciate the continued character development between Ewo and Ishacarr. Way to go, JakeyB!

There were three (3) different nominations for the Post of the Month - Cardinal award. Please join me in congratulating the following recipients:

> Amethyst and HowTypically Human: "Four Bells And All Is Well, Part 1" and "Four Bells And All Is Well, Part 2"
> Mav, JSlat, and Gregory: "Roomies", and
> Mav: "Daddy, Part 1" and "Daddy, Part 2"

March saw us produce some genuinely great content - Writing that each of us should be exceptionally proud to have created. It wasn't easy to decide which of the three nominations received we would send to Pegasus Fleet as our community's pick for the month. However, the Mission Post selected was "Four Bells And All Is Well, Parts 1 and 2" authored by Amethyst and HowTypicallyHuman. Congratulations!

I want to talk about the final award in a brand new one to the Cardinal and to Task Force 56! In March, the Task Force set the goal of one (1) Mission Post per Player Character. I'm exceptionally proud to share that each of you delivered big this month and exceeded this goal nearly six times! Congratulations to Amethyst, Mav, JakeyB, JSlat, Gregory, Eli, and HowTypicallyHuman for meeting this challenge head-on and exceedinbf all expectations. I'm so very proud of each of you!

Please join me in congratulating all of our award winners, and thank you for making the Cardinal a genuinely exceptional and enjoyable place to write Star Trek fiction with some truly remarkable players!

Alrighty, my friends, that wraps up our game updates for March 2021!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to help!

Warmest Regards,

HowTypicallyHuman
